Feed The Need

A Special Feed-The-Need Sunday Event
Community Outreach by the Truck Full!

Feed the Need 1  Feed the Need 2

On Sunday, October 1, we collected 2,085 cans of food for our Feed the Need Ministry.  The breakdown is 922 cans of vegetables, 269 cans of fruit, 427 cans of meat and 467 cans of soup.  We also had 26 jars of Peanut Butter, 418 packages of pasta and 72 boxes of cereal and 100 miscellaneous items.  We also collected over $1,800.00 to be used to purchase additional food..  On the Second Thursday of every month: Feed the Need gathers at 7:00 p.m. to prepare food donations to be distributed throughout the community. New volunteers are needed for delivering food donations.

Here's how you can FEED THE NEED through your church in mission.

You will notice the blue food bins around the church campus for donations of canned meats, soups, vegetables, fruits; peanut butter, jelly, cereal, dry milk, Pantryrice, macaroni and cheese, and other foods you would eat from your pantry.  (No glass jars please.)  In addition to food, you may give monetary donations.  On the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7 pm the Feed the Need team meets for about an hour to package up donated food.  The boxes are distributed to 4 elementary schools – Ferncreek, Pineloch, Lancaster, and Eccleston.  Social Workers at these schools identify the most needy families who then receive boxes of food.  Other boxes are distributed to Ebeneezer UMC food pantry, Christian Service Center, Salvation Army and the Coalition for the Homeless where FUMCO sponsors two transitional apartments.

There is always room for more helpers in this ministry from shoppers and collectors to sorters and packers to deliverers.  If you would like to find out how you can help with this ministry please e-mail Conrad Lobley: cll665@aol.com.
