Your children at WCDCThe Wesley Child Development Center (WCDC) serves the downtown Orlando community with child care for infants 6 weeks through children age 4. It provides both quality childcare and age-appropriate early childhood education experiences, preparing children to enter kindergarten. In 1998, the program received the sought-after accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). WCDC is also accredited by the United Methodist Association of Preschools (UMAP).

The Playground at WCDCWCDC Mission: As a means of expressing Jesus’ love for children, and in the belief that it is FUMCO’s congregational responsibility to provide, in an environment of love and trust, a place to develop and nurture each individual child’s growth and learning, the Wesley Child Development Center is created to meet the varied needs of today’s families and to provide an atmosphere where every child, from all backgrounds, can flourish and grow physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually

WCDC maintains a waiting list for all classes.  If you are interested in going on the waiting list, call the center at 407/648-2017 and schedule a tour.  At the time of the tour there is a form to fill out which will put you on the waiting list.  We carry the list over to the next year and call when spots are available.

WCDC announces openings in children’s four-year-old class

The Wesley Child Development Center at FUMCO has vacancies in our four-year-old program beginning in August. One opening is in our part-time program and we have several in our full-time program.

To be eligible, a child will be born between September 1, 2002 and August 31, 2003.

What happens in these programs? Well, for starters, the children have tons of fun. Additionally, children have opportunities for language and reasoning, science, math, block play, dramatic play, art, and music. We prepare children for success at the next level. How? By interacting with them and helping them become more familiar with books, words, and ways to use language. Children also learn how to use numbers and work on problem-solving strategies.

Because kindergarten has become more challenging, children need the rigor academically, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually to sail into their first year of school. WCDC builds on our 20-year tradition of excellence to assist children and families make the adjustment smoothly.

Our strategies are age-appropriate as well as developmentally appropriate. This means we take into account the latest brain research and ages and stages for preschoolers. Our classrooms are filled with loving, quiet, calm voices.

We would love to have you become part of our WCDC family. You have options ranging from three hours a day up to and including full-time placement.

Please call Pat Vetter for information at 407.648.2017.
